History

Pellebouc originated in the Middle Ages. Pierre de Belleyme, King Louis XV's engineer-geographist , mentions this place on his famous map of Guyenne, drawn up in 1785.

The property changed over the ages. At first, Pellebouc divided its production between vines, wood and cereals. The location underwent a period of a craze for wine, with owners who, like so many others, produced as much as possible from their estate right from the beginning of planting. Pellebouc then became a challenge for anyone who took over the château.

Since 2006, Château Pellebouc has been owned by Baudouin and Pascale Thienpont. Their first aim was to select the best wine-growing areas and restore to its former glory the château, its outbuildings and its gardens.

When they took over the property, following the valuable recommendations of his cousin Nicolas Thienpont, Baudouin Thienpont ultimately decided to thoroughly restore the vines by drastically pruning the old vine stock with the assistance of Ludovic Roussillon, a well-respected wine-grower in the region. Nature took over and results were not slow in coming...

At the moment, the Pellebouc Vineyards consist of 22 hectares of vines, mainly consisting of merlot and cabernet sauvignon for the red wines and sauvignon white and gris and sémillon for the white wines.
